DIOR MEN | 'GUIDED BY THE STARS'
Slated to show in Paris at 10pm SGT tonight, Jones’s fall/winter menswear collection will be first witnessed by a highly-anticipated guest list; most notably, Jimin of BTS, who has just been confirmed as the house’s newest global ambassador earlier this week. Alongside the K-pop star’s appearance, a number of celebrities will also be expected to grace the presentation, including long-standing ambassador, Pattinson himself. Joining the two A-listers are South Korean stars Jung Hae-in and Hwang In-youp, as well as Thai actor Mile Phakphum.

The Dior Men show opens with a story recited by Robert Pattinson and Gwendoline Christie projected along the runway before an orchestra introduces models in Kim Jones' latest creations. "The cycle of a fashion house is about regeneration and rejuvenation, just like the cycle of fashion itself. There is always something from the past in the present and in the future and Dior is no different," explained Kim Jones in a press release. "In this collection we wanted to look at the regeneration of the Maison after the death of Monsieur Dior and his rejuvenation with Yves Saint Laurent, his chosen heir, drawing a parallel in literature, through images and themes of the wasteland. It is where an old world meets a new, changing, and evolving world."

“My interest in Ancient Egypt is about the stars and the sky. It’s that fascination with the ancient world and the parallels with what we look at today; what we inherited from them and what we are still learning from the past,” Dior Men creative director Kim Jones says. “In both the collection and the show there is an idea of ‘guided by the stars’ and what that can entail in many ways. It’s about how the past shapes the future or an idea of the future from the past.”

The collection takes the audience from day to night—channeling the desert's grays throughout, incorporating yellow for a vibrant sunset, and a space print for nightfall, when the stars come out. Other themes of the collection include layering, blending traditionally masculine and feminine styling, tailored pieces, and futuristic footwear. While deeply rooted in the past, the collection has an air of futurism; combined, it somehow feels timeless.
