Louis Vuitton Heads to Isola Bella for the Cruise 2024 Show

Nicolas Ghesquière has taken his Louis Vuitton Resort 2024 show landed in Isola Bella, a tiny private island in Lake Maggiore that once belonged to the famous Borromeo family for 500 years. The show marks the first time the French luxury house has shown in Italy. Celebrities from all over the world landed on the island, including the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Madonna and more sitting front row at the show.

Taking place in such a monumental location, the collection was equally as opulent — not shy of maximal accessories and creative silhouettes. The was underwater glamour at its essence, with touches of fairy magic—all imbued with a cruise wear perspective. Adding to the aquatic theme, diving jackets were constructed for everyday wearability featuring elaborate prints that seem to take on textures seen on the famous Great Wave off Kanagawa print, all while telling a story of creatures that live in the vast seas. The collection saw an amalgamation of textures including mixed tank suits and robes paired with mermaid scale-like sequin skirts and naval jackets.

While hundreds of invited guests watched the show inside the palace, the Parisian fashion house ran a walk through during an afternoon break in the rain for photographers. To anyone watching the show in streaming, the models strolled in the open air against the backdrop of a Baroque fountain as Ghesquiere intended.
