NYFW 2023: Dark Fairytale from Rodarte
Rodarte, which is founded and headquartered in Los Angeles, California by designer sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, brought dark, gothic glamour and opulence to New York Fashion Week.
Models wore heavy, winged black eyeliner and black lipstick, matching their black gowns with long and pointy sleeves that draped to the floor for a dark fairy look.
In signature Rodarte fashion, buttery satin, ruffles, ribbons and lace were heavily present throughout some of the most visually pleasing gowns with simple silhouettes and puffy, broad shoulders and structuring. Some models wore capes and held grand bouquets of tulips.
The beauty looks were ruled by Siouxsie Sioux-inspired eye makeup. To anyone who isn’t into the goth music icon, that translates into graphic black eyeliner looks with dramatic wings. These were matched with black or blue lipstick, talon-like nails and a cold glare for maximum Maleficent energy.
Hollywood celebrities Brie Larson, Natasha Lyonne and Rowan Blanchard all rubbed shoulders at the show, dressed in their gleaming velvets and satin dresses.
